Northwest Consolidated Fire District works closely with the City of De Soto's Building Inspections Department and Building Official Cameron Maughmer. Every year NWCFD members perform a Fire and Life Safety inspection within the city limits of De Soto. Violations/serious problems found during inspections are then reported to the Building Inspections Department. NWCFD members also assist with building plan reviews for new construction with the Building Inspections Department. This ensures our members are up to date on all new construction projects as well as new construction designs and materials.

The Building Inspection Department is responsible for the permitting and inspection of all new residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects and major renovations or additions to existing structures. In addition, plumbing and electrical projects, septic system repairs, fences, and some accessory structure buildings are also overseen by the Building Inspections Department. All building contractors doing business must be licensed by Johnson County. For more information about the City of De Soto Building Inspection Department Click Here. If you are outside of the city limits of De Soto, please see Johnson County Building Inspection Department Click Here.
