Fire Prevention and Inspections

Northwest Consolidated Fire District strives to prevent fires before they happen. NWCFD offers a wide variety of community education programs. If you would like NWCFD members to participate in your upcoming event by providing fire and life safety education, please fill out the form below and a member of our department will be in contact with you shortly. Please include dates and times in the message section, and how many people you plan on attending.

Northwest Consolidated Fire District works closely with the City of De Soto's Building Inspections Department and Building Official Steve Chick. Every year NWCFD members perform a Fire and Life Safety inspection within the city limits of De Soto. Violations/serious problems found during inspections are then reported to the Building Inspections Department. NWCFD members also assist with building plan reviews for new construction with the Building Inspections Department. This ensures our members are up to date on all new construction projects as well as new construction designs and materials.

The Building Inspection Department is responsible for the permitting and inspection of all new residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects and major renovations or additions to existing structures. In addition, plumbing and electrical projects, septic system repairs, fences, and some accessory structure buildings are also overseen by the Building Inspections Department.   All building contractors doing business in De Soto must be licensed by Johnson County.
